Music room

The Catholic tradition is said to appeal to the eyes, whereas the Protestant faith is more attuned to the ears. This small chapel-style room can thus be considered an example of audiovisual ecumenism.

The multi-colored stained-glass windows in this room reverberate with the rhythm of Protestant-inspired music. We hear 16th-century Psalms in Old French as well as songs in an Ethiopian language, Hungarian and the South African language Xhosa. The hit Jerusalema is followed by songs by Aretha Franklin and Johnny Cash, including his famous – and very Protestant – “Personal Jesus.”
