Pen sketches made on the flyleaves of a small work by the theologian Robert Gaguin, the Compendium Roberti Gaguini super Francorum gestis (Paris, 1511), now kept at the Geneva Library.

They were drawn on the spot by a certain Jacques Bourgoing, from Nevers, a student at the Geneva Academy in the years 1563-1564. It is very likely that some of these portraits represent Calvin. Bourgoing regularly had him as a model by following his lectures to the audience.
